The chairman of the public association “Moldova Mea” Fiodor Ghelici made a number of calls to the ruling political leaders in the name of the people, saying they must resign and early parliamentary elections must be called. In a news conference at IPN, the activist stated the May 3 protest showed that society can no longer endure the illegalities committed by the government and the only solution to prevent a repeat of the Ukrainian maidan in Chisinau is for the current political class to resign.
In the call to the head of state, Nicolae Timofti is requested to take attitude to the internal situation and to bring things in society in order. Otherwise, he will go down in history as the most ‘amorphous’ President who was unable to prevent the stealing of the US$1billion from the banking system. Fiodor Ghelici said the people consider that the head of state is to blame for this theft because he had all the legal instruments at his disposal, but didn’t intervene.
Fiodor Ghelici also transmitted a message to the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat, calling on him to appear before the crowd at the next protest and to use his right to reply over the theft committed at the three banks. “You are the only Prime Minister in Moldova’s history who was dismissed for acts of corruption and was then conferred state awards by the head of state,” he said, addressing Filat.
The chairman of “Moldova Mea” also commented on the placing of businessman Ilan Shor under house arrest, saying he is used by the politicians who took part in his wedding party as he thus pays back the presents he received from them. But those who are to blame for the situation in the financial-banking sector are actually Victor Bodiu, Vlad Filat, Iurie Leanca, Veaceslav Negruta and others. Shor is used only for hiding the illegalities committed by these.
At the end, Fiodor Ghelici said that society is prepared to bring new people to power at early parliamentary elections.
