Fines totaling 35m lei imposed during state of emergency

The police since March 17, when a state of emergency was declared in Moldova, imposed fines totaling 35 million lei for violating the restrictions placed by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, based on over 1,700 contraventions, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 64 business entities, 32 passenger carriers, 1,625 private individuals and 26 priests who didn’t obey the epidemiological measures were penalized.

A number of 76 employees of the Ministry’s subdivisions became infected with COVID-19 and 36 of them were already cured. Over 9,000 carabineers, police officers, rescuers and border police officers monitor the observance of the measures decided by the Commission for Exceptional Situations.

Walks in the open air are allowed as of April 27, not yet for groups larger than three persons. The playgrounds, recreation areas and sports grounds remain closed and the organization of large events that involve many people is banned.

The quarantine regime is maintained in seven localities: Soroca municipality, Ștefan Vodă town, Talmaza village of Ștefan Vodă district, Glodeni town, Brînzeni village of Edineț district and Etulia and Cișmichioi villages of ATU Gagauzia.
