Two Moldovans were caught fishing using electric power in the Prut River. Employees of the Branza Border Police Sector discovered 72 kg of sheatfish. The fish was confiscated and transmitted to the Cahul Pisciculture Service. One of the two fishermen managed to escape and is now searched by the police, IPN reports.
According to the Border Police, in the evening of July 21 the border policemen saw a wooden boat with two men in it on the Prut. The persons were told to approach the bank, but they didn’t comply. After firing a warning shot, one of the persons sailed to the bank, while the other one managed to escape.
The arrested man is 25 and is from Slobozia Mare, Cahul. There were found a device connected to electricity, a storage battery and 123 pieces of sheatfish in the boat. The man was fined 400 lei for violating the border regime. The Cahul Pisciculture Service imposed a fine of 26,700 lei on him.
