The difficulty in finding of a job is one of the most serious challenges faced by young people in Moldova. The young people also mentioned the limited possibilities of starting a business and the incapacity to financially maintain the young family, shows a poll presented at the National Conference of District and Municipal Youth Councils in Chisinau on May 26, IPN reports.
To find a job, the young people most of the times seek help from the family and then from education institutions. They also go to the National Employment Agency, youth resource centers or NGOs.
Asked to mention the problems they face on the labor market, the respondents noted the low salary, employers’ unwillingness to hire young specialists without experience, unfavorable working conditions, discrimination, etc.
According to the young people, among the measures that should be taken to facilitate the employment of young people are the stimulation of business entities that employ young people and provision of concessions for starting businesses, posting of more vacancy announcements, establishment of partnerships between education institutions and employers, etc.
Among the problems, those polled also mentioned the limited access to studies, limited possibilities for the young people to distinguish themselves in Moldova, migration abroad, low level of knowledge of reproductive health and high crime rate among young people at the native place.
Petru Grecu, co-chairman of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Council, said the conference also raises the problems and results in the activity of district and municipal youth councils, the faced difficulties and possible solutions.
The poll covered a sample of 1,108 people aged between 14 and 35.
