Before the International Day of Older Persons, the elderly persons in need will receive lump sums in financial support. The administration boards of the social population support funds are to establish the categories of recipients and the size of the support, IPN reports.

A sum of 5.5 million lei was allocated from the national population support fund for the purpose. The selected beneficiaries will be informed by the social worker. The financial support will be available from the local post office before October 1.

In the municipality of Chisinau, the lump sum will be 500 lei. A number of 900 persons aged 75 and over, whose pensions are under 1,100 lei and who received no kind of financial support in 2015, are entitled to it here. The lists of recipients will be presented by the Chisinau General Division of Social Assistance and Family Protection.
