The family of the woman who died last week after she was hit by a falling tree in Buiucani district will receive 20,000 lei in financial assistance from the municipality, the district’s head Valeriu Nemerenko announced in the June 20 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.
The district head said they helped organize the funeral and also covered the costs of the commemoration meal and of the transport to the burying place.
In the same meeting, the head of the Green Areas service Eliferii Haruta said that 72 trees were downed as a result of the rain that fell at the beginning of last week. On June 17, 17 more trees fell down, while during the rainstorm of the night of June 19 the service’s employees travelled to 14 addresses to remove fallen trees and bushes. Only one of the 14 cases is yet to be dealt with and the supply of power is to be disconnected in this case.
Eliferii Haruta called on the municipal administration to pay greater attention to the green areas and to allocate the 9 million lei by which the service’s budget was cut to purchase equipment for felling old and dry trees and planting new ones.
Deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu asked for information about the possibility of planting taller trees, of 2 meters, which would grow faster. He proposed that the tress on one street should be cut down gradually, not at once.
