Finance Minister dismisses Lupu's allegations about budget make-up

Finance Minister Veaceslav Negruta has dismissed as “absurd” the allegations made by Democrat leader Marian Lupu at a television program that Moldova's state budget was 70% made of foreign donations, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The loans and the grants make up 18 percent of the budget, it's a well known and verifiable fact”, said Negruta, adding that the figures were available on the Ministry's website. The minister also said that all the grants and the loans taken by the Government were directed toward social as well as infrastructure programs, which subsequently would generate growth and welfare. “These are in particular projects financed through loans or grants from the World Bank or the EU for the rehabilitation of water supply and sewer systems, road construction and repair, production of services and goods, which are used by individuals or further used by businesses to produce other goods and services, to multiply the national welfare and yields revenues to the budget. We've discussed these things for so many times, and I cannot see why someone would say something like this anyway”.
