Fourteen of the 19 administrators of minibus routes in the municipality of Chisinau asked increasing the fares. They will submit their demands to the Finance Division on April 10, said Adrian Boldurescu, the head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The carriers demand raising the fare from 3 to 5 lei or even 9 lei. The Finance Division will check if the methodology for calculating the fares was obeyed and will then draft a decision for the Chisinau Municipal Council. It is the Council that will decide whether the fares will be increased or not. Early in March, a number of minibus owners and drivers said they will stop work if the fares are not increased because they work at a loss following the rise in fuel prices.
