Final rehearsal before parade

The Ministry of Defense today has held a last rehearsal before a military parade is staged tomorrow through central Chisinau to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Moldova’s independence.

About 2,000 war veterans, 1,200 National Army soldiers, 440 Interior troops, 50 Intelligent Service officers and 50 State Guard officers are due to march in the parade.

The Moldovan troops will be joined by foreign military contingents, including troops from the Romanian “Mihai Viteazul” Brigade 30 and the Military Tradition Association, from the Royal Irish Regiment, the Ukrainian Odessa Military Academy, the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas Honor Guard, and the Polish Honor Guard.

The parade will start at 10:30AM. The event will be attended by Moldovan top officials, foreign diplomats, ministers and military commanders from Poland, Romania, Germany, Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, Hungary, France, and Lithuania.

The troops on foot will be followed by 36 combat vehicles and systems used by the National Army’s infantry, artillery, antiaircraft, peace-keeping and special troops. They will be joined by 22 civilian vehicles of the Civil Protection Service and the State Guard Service.
 
The parade will end with performances by military bands. The last time such a military parade was staged in Chisinau was in 2011.
