Final declaration of 11th meeting of EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee

The European institutions are urged to make effort to provide the status of EU candidate country to the Republic of Moldova in accordance with Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union, says the final declaration and recommendations of the 11th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee. The signatories welcome the solidarity and support offered by the Moldovan authorities and the Moldovan citizens to the Ukrainian refugees and request the European Commission to step up its financial and technical assistance for Moldova, IPN reports.

The document refers to the consequences of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine, Moldova’s application to join the EU, strengthening of the EU-Moldova relations, implementation of an ambitious reform program and the economic difficulties experienced by Moldova, primarily the consequences of the gas supply crisis that was created artificially.

The declaration underscores the Memorandum of Understanding on the joint framework for supporting parliamentary democracy that was signed on November 29, 2021 and the important role that the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee can play in promoting close cooperation and in supporting the reforms done in the Republic of Moldova and the monitoring of their implementation.
