The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) decided to stop the investigation into the case concerning the high school diploma of former Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, which was allegedly false, for the reason that the statute of limitations expired, IPN reports.
In a press release, the PGO says the prosecutors’ decision is based on the fact that the cases of falsification of such documents form part of the category of minor offenses the statute of limitations for which is two years.
When Chiril Gaburici was invested as Prime Minister, the press reported that his high school diploma was supposedly false. The police and the prosecutors launched investigations. Later, Chiril Gaburici tendered his resignation, arguing he does not want to be accused of infecting the inquiries.
