The final data of the population and housing census of 2014 will be made public on March 31, 2017, director general of the National Bureau of Statistics Vitalie Valcov stated in a news conference where he presented a report on the Bureau’s work, IPN reports.
Vitalie Valcov said the activity to process the census data was resumed in 2016 and data from 4.2 million questionnaires were introduced by last October. “Intense work is now done to finalize the database so as to present the final data of the 2014 population and housing census by March 31,” he stated.
According to Vitalie Valcov, the National Bureau of Statistics has insufficient access to administrative data for using these for statistical purposes. This affects the quality, coverage and representativeness of statistical data. Among other problems are the reduced flexibility of the human resources management system and the fluctuation of staff at the Bureau. Only 17% of the Bureau’s personnel are young employees.
