In eight years and a half of the hunting in Pădurea Domnească (Domnească Forest) that resulted in the death of young man Sorin Paciu, the Supreme Court of Justice presented its argued decision. According to the document, Gheorghe Crețu remains the only one to blame for the death of Paciu in 2012. The argued decision says the judges accepted the request of the lawyers for the then director of the state-run Natural Reserve “Pădurea Domnească” Denis Irimchuk and the then guard and protection engineer Valeriu Svistun, the two being exempted from criminal punishment because the statute of limitations expired, IPN reports.
According to zdg.md, the argued decision that contains 271 sheets of paper was adopted by the extended Penal Board of the Supreme Court of Justice that consisted of judges Vladimir Timofti (president), Nadejda Toma, Iurie Diaconu, Elena Cobzac and Victor Boico and was published fully on May 28.
Under the argued decision, the judges partially quashed the judgment passed by the Bălți Appeals Court on March 4, 2019 by which it was ordered to pay 200,000 lei in respect of pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage to the family of the victim and Sorin Paciu’s family will thus not get damages from the state-run Natural Reserve “Pădurea Domnească”.
Nadejda Toma and Iurie Diaconu formulated separate opinions by which they expressed their disagreement with the taken decision.
The medical-legal examination report showed Sorin Paciu died after being shot with a round bullet of Taxo-Trio model in the abdomen on December 25, 2012. The shot was fired by Crețu Gheorghe out of imprudence.
