Filat to functionaries: I know it's hard
“I know that often the public servants receive illegal orders, I know it's very hard to oppose a criminal regime and risk your job when you have a family to feed,” stated Liberal-Democratic president Vlad Filat at a briefing on July 24, Info-Prim Neo reports
“I know that most of the functionaries and state agency employees are honest people, who try to do their duty. Alone, one cannot change the situation and has to tacitly accept the requirements of the system,” Filat said in an address to the employees of law-enforcing bodies, the Service of Information and Security and prosecutors.
“On July 29, the most important elections since the foundation of the independent state of Moldova will take place. We'll choose between European future and stagnation and poverty. The Communists Party, in power for 8 years, has undermined the democratic institutions, reducing their functions to serving the regime's interests, put the public servants and the employees of the law-enforcement bodies in the humiliating situation of acting from fear, the PLDM leader has said.
“A crucial role in normalizing the situation and enforcing legality rests with the employees of the SIS, Interior Ministry, the Economic Crimes and Corruption Combating Center, the Prosecutor's Office, of tax-levying bodies and courts. They have the necessary potential to bring back the citizens' trust in the law-enforcing bodies, in the judiciary and to rehabilitate Moldova's image in the world. On July 29, we can make things right. Voting against the Voronin regime is a civic deed of everyone saying no to lawlessness, violence and hatred,” added Vlad Filat.
