Filat, Smirnov hold informal meeting in Germany

Moldova's Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Transnistria's leader Igor Smirnov held an informal meeting in Germany during which they discussed about the prospects of resuming a formal and permanent dialogue on political issues in the framework of the 5+2 settlement process, Info-Prim Neo learned from a Government press release. The conversation was held on the margins of a conference organized by the OSCE in the German town of Bad Reichenhall. The interlocutors also agreed to continue efforts for the total resumption of freight rail traffic via Transnistria. Also, Filat and Smirnov discussed about the need to renew efforts for restoring land-line, mobile and postal connections between the two sides of the Nistru River. Another issue discussed was related to economic interaction, in particular the need to remove existing barriers and limitations in this area. One tangible outcome of the meeting was the signing of a set of Joint Regulations for Confidence-Building Task Forces.
