Filat-Smirnov duo will lead to Moldova’s division, Mark Tcaciuc
The meeting of Vladimir Filat and Igor Smirnov that is to take place in Bavaria points to the existence of a duo before the division of Moldova, while Igor Smirnov’s trip to Germany represents an attempt to legalize the separatism and a campaign to obtain the EU’s support in the elections that will be held in Transnistria, Communist MP Mark Tcaciuc said in a news conference on September 6, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
“Igor Smirnov planned the visit before the presidential elections in Transnistria. This visit to Bavaria means nothing but direct support to Igor Smirnov’s candidacy for leader of Transnistria on the part of the EU. This situation and the government of the AEI suit Igor Smirnov. It is an AEI-Smirnov duo before the division of the Moldovan state, according to the example of Serbia and Montenegro,” said Mark Tcaciuc.
He also said that no significant progress in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process will be made after this meeting. “As a result of these discussions, Transnistria will become again an offshore area, as eight years ago,” he stated.
According to Mark Tcaciuc, the official Chisinau does not want the Transnistrian conflict to be settled as it wants to come closer to NATO. “We cannot speak about measures to build confidence between Chisinau and Tiraspol when the policy pursued by the Government of Moldova dissatisfies most of the country’s people. During the last two years, the Transnistrian conflict has turned from a joint national task into a private matter when persons from Chisinau and Tiraspol want to improve the personal relations,” he said.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the leader of the breakaway republic Igor Smirnov will have an informal meeting in Germany this weekend, on the sidelines of an international conference centering on the measures to build confidence between the banks of the Nistru.
