Prime Minister Vlad Filat says he stays in constant communication with President Nicolae Timofti, including as regards Russia's plans to open a consulate in Tiraspol, and that he shares the head of state's point of view, Info-Prim Neo reports. Last week the President told reporters that the Moldovan authorities would not consent to a Russian consulate in Tiraspol as long as Russian troops and munitions were stationed within the territory of Moldova. “The position of President Timofti is absolutely consistent with his duty of head of state. This objective regarding the withdrawal of troops and munitions from Moldova's territory is a priority and represents a constant and important concern of the Government”, Filat told journalists on Tuesday. Filat stressed that there is no divergence between what the Government and the President's Office do. “We have a perfect understanding with President Timofti, we stay in constant communication, we've had numerous discussions and, on this matter, our points of view coincide perfectly”. “Negotiations are on-going, and when all the conditions pursuant to the international and national norms are met, this consulate will be opened in Tiraspol. Until then, it's early to make speculations”, said the Prime Minister. Last week, Russia's envoy for Transnistria, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, visited Chisinau to agree with the Moldovan authorities on the opening of a Russian consulate in the northern city of Balti and to advance negotiations on a consulate in Tiraspol, to which he traveled briefly before visiting Chisinau one more time. He was quoted by the Russian media as saying that President Timofti's position counted less as long as he had an agreement with Prime Minister Filat.
