Filat recommends Lupu to be more optimistic

Prime Minister Vlad Filat advised Speaker Marian Lupu not to look for reasons for which the process of liberalizing the visa regime with the EU can be postponed. He reacted this way to Marian Lupu’s statement that Moldova will not have a visa-free regime by the end of this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I would like Mister Lupu to be more optimistic... I think everyone should contribute to the achievement of this objective that benefits every citizen of Moldova, not look for reasons for which this process can be put off,” Vlad Filat said in a news conference on May 17. He made it clear that the Moldovans will benefit from a facilitated visa regime by this yearend, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca declared earlier. Filat said that he discusses the issue with high-ranking European officials who are directly involved in the given process. “The communication with the European ambassadors shows that they are more determined in this visa liberalization process than some of our politicians, and this is strange,” he stated. Vlad Filat also commented on Marian Lupu’s assertion that Minister of Education Mihail Shleahtitski may be dismissed for ordering naming the History course in schools as the History of Romanians course. “Mister Lupu manages a very important institution with significant powers. As to the Government’s work, I am capable of administering it myself,” he stressed.
