Filat: Moldova will be granted visa-free regime until legislative elections

The Moldovan people will benefit from a visa-free regime until the parliamentary elections of November 30, 2014 and this process does not imply the government coalition and the legislative elections, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat said in the program “Fourth Power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat said that few people believed in the possibility of obtaining a liberalized-visa regime in the near future. If they had had more confidence and obeyed Europeans’ instructions, this thing would have happened long ago. The liberalized visa regime concerns every Moldovan and is a very important thing for each of them. Owing to this regime, the Moldovans who are abroad will be able to come home more often to see their families. This is a victory of Moldova, not of the government and the liberalized visa regime shouldn’t be regarded as an accomplishment before the election campaign.

“I do not want this thing to be regarded from the perspective of the elections. We have what to boast of in elections. We repaired hundreds of kilometers of roads, hundreds and schools and many other things will be done. We will increase the social benefits as the national economy already generates incomes and we have the necessary budgetary resources for raises,” said the leader of the PLDM.

Vlad Filat also said that under the technical procedure for liberalizing the visa regime, the European Parliament will take a decision on the issue after the EU member states give their consent, through the Council of the EU.
