Filat meets with district heads

Prime Minister Vlad Filat is inviting local authorities to discuss a new bill on local public finances. “We wish to have a potent document that would ensure real local autonomy”, stated Vlad Filat at a meeting with the district heads on Thursday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The meeting was held behind closed doors, with media access only to welcoming speeches. The governmental press service said in a subsequent press release the prime minister talked about the opportunities the local authorities could enjoy in partnerships with the central authorities as well as foreign partners. Filat referred in particular to the transborder cooperation programs, saying that the budget of the Romania-Ukraine-Moldova Program alone is €134m. Among other issues discussed at the meeting were the problems related to the village schools, the poor local roads and the expenses related to the seasonal farming works.
