Filat disagrees with Lupu on how state institutions reacted to bank scam incidents

Prime Minister Vlad Filat disagrees with acting President Marian Lupu, who said that the state institutions, in particular the law enforcement bodies, acted correctly in the case of the corporate raid incidents against several Moldovan banks recently. Filat also says that if any members of his party are found to be involved, they will be the first to be punished. “It seems to me that Mr Lupu is detached from reality. I really don't understand how one can say that the institutions acted correctly in this case against Moldova, which shocked everybody in Europe. There was not a single meeting in recent days in which I wasn't asked to explain or comment on this situation. How can one say that the state institutions have done their job right? Had it been so, we haven't got into this situation. This is why hearings in Parliament shall be held. Furthermore, those responsible will be held accountable”, stated Vlad Filat. He said there would be dismissals as well. “Persons in responsible positions will be fired and this is exactly the approach we are going to adopt in our future activity. I am determined to settle this and I will not stop, no matter who is behind this and what party they represent. If investigations reveal that Liberal-Democrats are involved, they will be the first to be dismissed, because we have to make order in our country”, declared Vlad Filat. Marian Lupu stated on Friday that all the law enforcement institutions have “acted according to the law and made correct decisions” in the case of the corporate raid incidents against four Moldovan banks last month.
