Filat at CIS summit: Moldova supports free trade agreement initiative

During the CIS heads of government summit in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat pleaded in favor of developing relations in the areas of trade and economy, food and agriculture, and human welfare, a governmental press release said. The Prime Minister stated Moldova supported the initiative to develop a CIS-wide free trade agreement and was willing to participate in drafting it. Vlad Filat also stressed that energy security and cooperation in emergency situations between CIS member states were Moldova’s priorities in the CIS. Filat further spoke of cooperation in the agrifood area, saying that access to markets where there was demand for such products was an issue of great interest for Moldova. At the end of the summit, the participants signed a number of documents, including the action plan on the Conception of cooperation of CIS member states in the energy area, on the CIS Intergovernmental Council for Agrindustrial Issues, etc.
