Filat and Shor questioned within extended investigations into BEM

Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat and ex-chairman of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii (BEM) Ilan Shor were questioned by anticorruption prosecutors within the extended investigations into the case of stealing at the BEM on July 21. Former Premier Zinaida Grechenyi was also summoned, but she could not come because she is abroad, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Last week, the prosecutors summoned for questioning a number of high-ranking officials, including MPs, ministers and National Bank officials and former Premiers.

The vice director of the Public Property Agency Angela Susanu and former deputy minister of economy Dumitru Godoroja are investigated as suspects in the same case. These are suspected of misconduct in office that led to the loss of the state’s controlling interest in the BEM.
