The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called on the Unites States to augment the support provided to Moldova and Ukraine so as to ensure the region’s European future, IPN reports.
At the invitation of the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives John Boehner, Vlad Filat took part in the joint session of the Congress – the House of Representatives and Senate – where it was debated the current situation in Ukraine and in the region.
According to a communiqué of the PLDM, Vlad Filat and Petro Poroshenko underlined the importance of the countries of the region making common cause in a move to ensure their security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and democratic development.
While in the U.S., the Liberal-Democratic leader had a meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, with whom he discussed the importance of the November 30 parliamentary elections for ensuring the irreversibility of Moldova’s European course.
