Fight against corruption among PAS parliamentary group’s priorities this session

The fight against corruption remains one of the priorities of the parliamentary group of the Party “Action and Solidarity” for the current session. The resumption of the foreign direct assistance for the citizens is another priority, Deputy Speaker Mihai Popșoi announced in the first sitting of the spring session of Parliament, IPN reports.

The MP stated the more accentuated isolation of the Republic of Moldova owing to the irresponsible attitude of the current government of Dodon to the foreign commitments is a big problem. The government’s irresponsible policy led to a wave of price rises that more seriously affects the people. “The 700 lei in aid paid by the government is not at all enough. That’s why the PAS group aims to come up with initiatives to provide compensations so as to somehow ease the disastrous situation, especially of the vulnerable groups of people,” he stated.

Mihai Popșoi noted the parliamentary group undertakes to fight corruption. According to the PAS, regression is witnessed in fighting petty corruption and primarily grand corruption. The justice sector reform is mimicked and the foreign assessment concept, which is one of Moldova’s obligations towards the intentional community, was definitively abandoned within the so-called “short reform”.

The MP also said that 2020 is the year of presidential elections. “The election of the President is a complex exercise. Given that these elections for Dodon are vital, the danger of rigging increases. The temptation to bring voters from Transnistria will be in the focus. We will ask the foreign partners to strictly monitor the elections so as to make sure they are free and fair,” stated Mihai Popșoi.
