Fifteen firefighting vehicles involved in exercise conducted at Chisinau Airport

Sixty rescuers and firefighters with 15 firefighting vehicles took part in an exercise held at the Chisinau International Airport. The goal of the exercise was to test the intervention, communication and reaction capacities of the teams responsible for the management of risk situations and to ensure their cooperation with forces of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in situations of risk. According to the scenario, an exceptional situation happened when an aircraft with 20 passengers on board was fueled on ground. A part of the fuel leaked and caught fire on the territory of the Airport, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Inspectorate.

Joint intervention teams had the task of communicating efficiently for remedying the situation and alleviating the consequences of the situation of risk. The firefighters used foam to extinguish the fire and assessed the risks of an eventual explosion. The teams had to also actively cooperate to fully remove the involved risks.

Large-scale tactical exercises are conducted by the forces of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in partnership worth representatives of the Airport’s Flight Safety Service of Avia Invest on a regular basis so as to assess the risks of crisis situations and to be ready to efficiently deal with exceptional situations.
