Fewer environment-related offenses
The number of offenses related to environment issues has dropped in 2009 in comparison to the last years, after the fines grew bigger, says Mihai Mustea, the deputy head of the State Ecologic Inspectorate.
According to him, during the first 4 months of 2009, the amount of fines related to this area reached 300,000 lei.
“Depending on the severity of the committed offense, like illegally cutting trees, the natural persons are fined 800-1,000 lei or obliged to work 40-60 hours for the community's sake. The people in managing positions are fined 8-10 thousand lei,” Mustea specified.
In 2008, 3,200 entities were verified as 814 fines were ordered to be paid, amounting to 850,000 lei.
