Fewer buildings will be erected in Chisinau in 2011

Not many activities to design and construct new buildings will be carried out in the municipality of Chisinau this year. According to the head of the General Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Division Vlad Modarca, the demand for erecting buildings will be twice lower this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Modarca said the interest in designing and constructing new building started to decrease in 2008. The demand in the construction sector in 2010 fell by 20% compared with 2009. Last year, the residents of Chisinau asked for 2,500 certificates allowing designing and building apartments and 2,248 certificates for erecting private houses. Most of the urbanism certificates allowed carrying out designing works. “The issued urbanism certificates do not meet our expectations. The people asks for certificates for making entrances, changing the appearance of buildings and nothing more,” Vlad Modarca said in a meeting at the City Hall, adding that very few new roads are being built in Chisinau.
