Twelve mayors from Ungheni district are taking part in the fourth “Festival of harvest, wine and national traditions” held in Ungheni on October 11. Deputy head of Ungheni district Iulia Pancu has told IPN that the event involves delegations from Estonia and Finland. This fact enables the national wine producers to establish cooperation relations so as to export to new markets.
According to Iulia Pancu, the mayor’s office with the best presentation at the festival will be awarded 1,000 lei and ceramics made in Ungheni so as to promote pottery this way.
Mayor of Ungheni town Alexandru Ambros said this year’s festival is an important event given the ban imposed by Russia on the import of Moldovan wine and fruit. It is an effort to show that the Moldovan producers can diversify the export markets and can improve the quality of the wine and agro-industrial products.
The festival is held in the Independence Square of Ungheni town. The program of activities includes a performance by the ethnic and folklore ensemble “Plaiesii”, managed by Nicolae Gribincea.
