The program of the first festival “I Greet You, Chisinau” consists of music, meetings with writers and dialogues about history. The event is held in connection with the 585th anniversary of the first historical attestation of the city. The program that starts today includes meetings with writers at the branches of the Municipal Library “B.P. Hașdeu”, an exhibition of charters and manuscripts about the history of Chisinau at the Museum of History of the City and three days of music: concerts organized in different places, IPN reports.
On the occasion of this event, the Museum of History of the City mounts an exhibition where there will be presented a valuable document showing the age of Chisinau. This charter was compiled on July 17, 1436 and its original is kept at the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw, Poland. In 2013, a group of residents of Chisinau came into possession of a copy of the document, which was later donated to the museum.
Concerts in different locations of Chisinau will be held as part of the festival during four days. A jazz music concert will be given on the pedestrian street Eugen Doga on July 14. Folk music concerts will be staged in the parks “La Izvor” and “Valea Morilor” on July 15. Classical music concerts can be seen in the Parks “Valea Morilor”, “La Izvor” and “Alunelul” and on the pedestrian street Eugen Doga on July 16. The festival is closed on July 17 with the performance “Ode to Chisinau”.
The activities that form part of the program of the festival “I Greet You, Chisinau” are organized by the Culture Division in cooperation with the district head’s offices and the General Division of Economy, Trade and Tourism.
