The second Festival of the Byk River “Love your river!” will be staged at the ethnic-cultural complex “Vatra” on September 21. The event is organized by the National Environmental Center and the Youth Coalition “Love your river!”.
In a news conference at IPN, Iuliana Cantaragiu, expert of the National Environmental Center, said the second festival will take place in the second district on the course of the Byk – Straseni. “It is an event that brings together the authorities from the river’s basin and it should be noted that every district becomes involved,” she stated, adding that the contest “The cleanest settlement in the River Byk basin” will be launched within the festival.
Recitals will be given by Osoianu sisters, the band Catharsis, the ensemble ANIMO, Valy Boghean Band, DARA and a number of folkloric groups from the basin of the Byk River.
The visitors will be able to take part in a gastronomic theater, a bread making workshop, a hand jewel making workshop, a workshop to make ecological cosmetic products and a workshop to decorate flax knapsacks. There will be screened films about the Byk River made by participants in the Byk River Basin Youth Forum of 2013 and in the Youth Festival “Love your river!” of 2014.
The event forms part of the youth campaign “Love your river!” that is implemented with the assistance of the Democracy Grants Program of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova and co-financed by EcoCatalyst Foundation of the United States.
