A festival of blogs “Blogovat 2008” will be organised in Moldova for the first time in the history of the Moldovan internet, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communique from the organisers, the applicants will be registered until February 11. Blogs created and kept by Moldovan citizens or foreigners that live in Moldova and write about Moldova can take part in the contest. The participants can register by completing a form on the festival’s website www.blogovat.blogosfera.md. The winners of the festival “Blogovat 2008” will be selected by three groups of users: readers, bloggers and a jury. The readers will vote for their favourite blogs by clicking on a banner posted on the participant’s blog. The bloggers taking part in the competition will vote through the system ElectionPlatform.com. The jury will assess the blogs according to a number of criteria and will give points for every criterion apart. The blogs will compete in the following categories: “Media Blog”, “Photo/video Blog”, “Civil Society Blog”, “Personal Blog” and “Specialty Blog”. The jury will designate the winners at the categories “Best Blog Article” and “Launch of the Year”. “Blogovat” is an initiative of a group of users from Moldova that aim to promote and consolidate the blogging in the Moldovan internet space, to strengthen bloggers’ community in Moldova and to create an alternative space for expression, discussion and cooperation. The blogs (short form of web log) are web publications containing articles, usually personal records (like a journal), posted in inverse chronological order. The blogs range from personal journals to instruments of political campaigns, media programmes or programmes of different companies. They also vary according to the author – from one author to a community.
