Ferryboat in Molovata to be replaced

The Reintegration Office is to identify solutions to purchase a new ferryboat that will ensure connection between Molovata village on the right bank of the Nistru and Molovata Nouă village on the left bank of the Nistru. A request to this effect was made by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița after a working visit to Dubăsari district. The current ferryboat that transports commuters and basic necessities over the Nistru is in a bad state, IPN reports.

According to Natalia Gavrilița, all the necessary measures should be adopted for the people and units of transport to travel safety including at night, when the water in the Nistru gets frozen or when the level of water in the river decreases.

The ferryboat is indispensable for the inhabitants of six settlements of Dubăsari district that are under the control of the constitutional authorities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of routes between the two banks was doubled. The ferryboat also ensures the people’s access to different public services available in Cocieri village.

The ferryboat is managed by a state-run enterprise. It annually transports 110,000 – 120,000 tonnes of goods and 100,000 – 110,000 citizens form one side of the river to another.
