Female politicians to meet in Georgia
Women involved in politics from the Council of Europe member states will come together for the first meeting to plan women’s participation in public life in Georgia’s Tbilisi on February 7-8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The meeting will involve a delegation of the Parliament of Moldova. It consists of Galina Balmos, Stella Jantuan, Corina Fusu, and Maria Nasu, who represent all the parliamentary groups. The meeting is organized within the Council of Europe’s Eastern Partnership Facility.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Stella Jantuan said the meeting will center on the experience of the female lawmakers from the countries covered by the Eastern Partnership with a view to identifying definite steps that can help facilitate women’s participation in public life. “Such meetings are aimed at eliminating discrimination by working out viable mechanisms that can promote the women in politics,” she stated.
Experts of the Council of Europe and from Georgia will discuss such issues as gender equality in the political parties, women’s promotion to high-ranking posts, and combination of the professional activity and family live.
