A Chisinau felon has been sentenced to two years in prison for malpractice. Due to deviations from the regulation on providing medical care and incorrect diagnosis, the patient allegedly died, IPN reports.
According to the prosecutors, in January 2020, the doctor improperly and superficially examined a patient, omitted necessary investigations and electrocardiogram, which did not allow the diagnosis of acute cardiovascular failure.
The 67-year-old patient was left with a recommendation to see his family doctor, without being given full information about his state of health. Two hours later the patient's condition deteriorated and he died of acute myocardial infarction.
In court, the 30-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty. The judges sentenced him to two years in prison, suspended on three years' probation. In addition, he was deprived of the right to practice medicine for five years.
