Fecal coliforms found in kvass marketed in Calarasi

Kvass containing fecal coliforms, which can cause dysentery, hepatitis or cholera was found in Calarasi. The product was being sold by local enterprise “Timofei Morozov”, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to a communiqué from the Consumer Protection Agency, the kvass was being sold in authorized locations, and the producer had the sanitary authorization to function, and the hygiene certificate, which was issued by the Calarasi Public Health Center. 700 liters of kvass were found during the inspection of the enterprise. The lab results proved the presence of coliform bacteria in 10 cubic centimeters, which is inadmissible according to the normative requirements. Additionally, the aspect, color, taste, and smell, are not the ones required by the norm. After finding the irregularities, the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) wrote administrative minutes, prohibited further production of kvass, and announced the Calarasi Public Health Center about those irregularities. The producer must present an action plan for investigating and removing any irregularities, the implementation of which will be supervised by CPA agents.
