February 23 marked in Moldova differently

The day of February 23, which is a remnant of the Soviet Army Day, continues to be celebrated by a part of the Moldovans. Acting President Marian Lupu told the press that even if his schedule is rather tight, he will find time to celebrate this day in the second half of the day, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu said that though he did his military service for only several months, it was a very nice period. “It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t hard either. The time spent in the army helps you become a real man,” said the Acting President, who is also the commander-in-chief. “Why should I celebrate February 23? By popular tradition, the men’s day is marked on March 9, when it is the start of the agricultural year. We will celebrate then,” the first deputy head of the Liberal Democratic Party Mihai Godea told the journalists. The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that his memories of the army are connected with the longing for girls. However, he said that he does not recognize this holiday. “I celebrate Dragobete on February 24,” Mihai Ghimpu stated. The National Army Day is marked on September 3.
