Father of teen who shot dead child in Telenesti to stand trial

The man from Telenesti district whose son fired at a minor boy from a hunter’s gun will appear before the court on charges of negligent keeping of firearms and munitions, IPN reports. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the investigation was completed and the case against the man was sent to court. This faces up to three years in jail.

The tragedy happened on Verejeni village on November 18, 2017. The 14-year-old teen shot at a boy aged seven, who died shortly as a result of his serious injuries. The body of the victim was found in a well not far from the house.

Prosecutors established that the fired hunter’s gun belonged to the father of the minor aged 14. This left the loaded gun unsupervised in the room where the two boys were playing.

The 14-year-old boy is investigated outside remand in a separate case over intentional murder. His father is held on remand.
