Father, daughter and nephew get drowned in the Nistru
Three members of a family, including two minors, drowned in the Nistru River.
Liliana Puscasu, the head of the Anti-Fire Center of the Firefighters and Rescuers Division, has told Info-Prim Neo that the tragedy happened in the evening of July 8.
The man aged 40, his 15-year-old daughter and his 12-year-old nephew, all inhabitants of Susleni village of Orhei district, were sailing on a boat on the Nistru. Not far from Jora de Sus village in the same district, at a distance of about 20 meters of the left bank of the river, the waves overturned the boat, which drowned together with all the occupants.
Several people from the left bank hurried to save them, but did not manage to. The corpses of the three were taken out of the water.
Thirty-five persons got drowned since the start of this year, including 17 children. Twenty-six cases of drownings have been reported this summer.
