Fatal Routes documentary will be aired on Moldova 1
The public TV channel Moldova 1 will air the documentary “Fatal Routes” on Saturday, July 7. The film tackles the issue of illegal passenger transportation in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“During the shootings, we reached the conclusions that passenger transports are ruled by chaos. The most profitable illegal routes are operated by former employees of law enforcement bodies and their activity is probably covered by their colleagues”, the film’s director and editor-in-chief of Panorama newspaper Vladimir Thoric told Info-Prim Neo.
Tatiana Vlas, head of Moldova 1’s planning and programs department, said that public television’s board was ready to offer more broadcast time for such journalistic products. “Local authors of quality documentaries and journalistic investigations can count on Moldova 1 to broadcast their materials”, said Tatiana Vlas.
The executive director of the Transporters and Road Workers Union Eugen Datco admitted that one movie wouldn’t solve the problem, but thinks that public debates about the safety of passenger transportation should be organized after the broadcast of the film. “The film is a must-see for users of public interurban transport and for top government officials”, said Datco.
According to him, the lack of measures from authorities in the fight with illegal passenger transportation can lead to new accidents. “Daily, hundreds of minibuses illegally transport thousands of passengers in the whole country. Authorities either don’t want to or cannot fight the phenomenon, but even the passengers don’t think that the next trip with an unauthorized transporter could be deadly”, declared Datco.
The documentary will be aired at 5.15 PM.
