Farming product prices dropped by 2% in 2012

The average prices of farming products in the first half of 2012 dropped by 2.3% compared to the same period of 2011, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, Info-Prim Neo reports. The farmer’s prices for vegetable products decreased by 15%. Potatoes cheapened by 80%, grapes by 32% and vegetables by 31%. The prices of cereals and leguminous crops dropped by 10%, especially wheat -5.6%, corn -9.4% and sunflower -10%. Meanwhile, the prices of animal products increased by 18%, including eggs, live cattle and poultry, pigs and milk. As this year’s drought damaged numerous cultures, most farmers predict that the prices will grow because of the low supply.
