Farmers want to take part in negotiations with foreign donors and partners

Representatives of the Moldovan agricultural producers ask the authorities to involve them in the negotiations with foreign donors and international partners such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. This is one of the proposals formulated by the National Federation of Employers in Agriculture and Food Industry (FNPAIA) in the agricultural policy plan for 2013-2015, IPN reports.

In a national conference, FNPAIA chairman Alexandru Slusari said that the policy plan for the previous period was supplemented as some of the provisions from it weren’t carried out. The punishment for those who do not cultivate their land should be implied gradually.

FNPAIA asked that the authorities intervene in the formation of prices as they have the necessary leverage and can combat monopoly in the field. It suggests that a number of significant tax concessions and subsidies should be granted to companies from rural areas that invest in agriculture so that the villages are developed.

The Federation also proposes creating a system for collecting rainwater and using water from the accumulation lakes for irrigating the fields, while the money earned from levying import duties on diesel fuel should be invested in agriculture.

As to the fiscal provisions, the FNPAIA considers that producers’ accounts should not be blocked during spring works and harvesting. A three-year moratorium should be imposed on inspections at agricultural producers where no violations were identified as the number of inspections is too large.
