The protesting farmers pulled out their tractors from the road to the Leușeni border crossing. “The access road to the Leușeni-Albita border crossing point has been unblocked, and vehicle traffic has been resumed as usual”, the Border Police said.
During today’s meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, attended by Prime Minister Dorin Recean among others, the farmers asked for 400 million lei to overcome their difficulties. The money would go to buy fuel, seeds and fertilizers.
The prime minister spoke about the support measures already provided for the agricultural sector, including the latest amount of 50 million lei, which will be allocated to farmers affected by last year’s drought. According to him, the state budget cannot spare any more.
At the end of the meeting, the farmers and the authorities agreed to resume the dialogue on Tuesday.
