The Farmers’ Force Association says it intends to resume protests from next Monday. Some of the farmers will drive their tractors and trucks to Chisinau, while others will block national roads, according to a decision made by the Association’s Council.
The Association declared in a press release that “regrettably, farmers have once again been misled by the authorities. During the current week, negotiations on the method of payment and the amount of compensation promised by the Government did not take place”.
The farmers also say they have foiled several attempts by “a political-criminal group” to join their civic movement and extract political dividends from the protests. “Any political provocateur will be immediately reported to the police”, said the Association.
The Association asks the Government for support to avoid the bankruptcy of small and medium-sized farmers. Among the demands are: a ban on grain imports from Ukraine, provision of compensation, an urgent disbursement of overdue subsidies, and the demand that the Giurgiulesti Port prioritize exports of Moldovan goods.
