Farmers will receive the subsidies due for 2014 until September 1, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet promised during a meeting with the Causeni Farmers Association. The official tried to appease the farmers after they threatened to protest if the authorities didn't pay last year's subsidies, IPN learned from a press release of the Government.
“The actions of the Cabinet I'm heading will prove that we want to continue the development and modernization of our country. We need stability and we will do everything possible to regain the trust of our citizens and development partners”, said Strelet. He assured the farmers that he wants a continuous dialogue in order to learn about their problems.
In turn, the farmers agreed to cancel their protests and concurred that dialogue is a more productive solution than blocking the Great National Assembly Square with tractors.
Over the last 4 years, about 15,000 beneficiaries were subsidized with over 2.2 million lei.
