Farmers suggest piloting common tax in agriculture in three districts

The National Federation of Employers in Agriculture and Food Industry insists on the necessity of introducing a common tax in agriculture. The Federation’s chairman Alexandru Slusari has told IPN that they propose piloting this project in three districts of the country so as to see the effects.

Representatives of the farmers recently had a meeting with Deputy Speaker Adrian Candu, who told them that there are dissenting opinions on this tax in Parliament and among the farmers too. Not everyone agrees with this initiative. The Federation’s suggestion to pilot the project in three districts will be discussed within the Pro-European Coalition, which will decide whether to propose it for debates in Parliament or not.

Under a bill drafted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, which hasn’t been yet examined in Parliament, the common tax will include the income tax, the land tax and the property tax, the road tax, the water tax and other local taxes.
