Representatives of associations of farmers and agricultural producers decided to stage a protest in central Chisinau on May 27. “UniAgroProtect” chairman Alexandru Slusari has told IPN that the farmers plan to block the entrance and exit roads in Chisinau.

Alexandru Slusari said that if it’s possible, units of agricultural machinery will be brought to central Chisinau. In the last protest, a number of farmers were intimidated by the police into not taking to the streets. The representatives of the associations of farmers intend to travel to regions so as to convince as many people as possible to join them in the protest on May 27.

The farmers also mounted protests on March 27 and April 15. In April, the farmers blocked the national roads for an hour. They demand increasing the agriculture subsidization fund to 1.2 billion lei, unblocking the process of lending in agriculture and reducing the interest rates on loans.
