The Association “Force of Farmers” anticipates that the losses in the case of first group grain crops will come to over 2 billion lei. In a press release, the Association said the calculations were done based on the approximate areas sowed with wheat, barley and rape, the average costs per hectare of crop, the average forecasted harvest and the estimated selling prices, IPN reports.

“It is noteworthy that these losses follow the droughty year 2022 when the losses sustained by the farmers weren’t calculated and these weren’t at least partially compensated. The losses associated with the decline in the price of raw material which started last year also weren’t assessed,” noted the Association “Force of Farmers”.

It warned that the small and medium-sized producers of oleaginous and grain crops have no more reserves and many of them will go bankrupt without state support.
