The farmers on Monday picketed the Government Building, showing their dissatisfaction with the fact that the authorities didn’t satisfy the demands they formulated in the June protests. According to them, the protest is a warning signal. If no action is taken, the protests will grow in size, IPN reports.
The farmers said that one month and a half has passed since the protests were suspended and the authorities promised to offer assistance to the affected farmers. The promises weren’t fulfilled.
The farmers noted there are many problems related to the fluidization of exports. A moratorium should be imposed on the payment of debts owed by micro-, small and medium-sized farmers by temporarily banning the forced execution of farmers’ obligations and not allowing starting insolvency procedures.
“The farmers should be treated with respect, without defiance, without division, without false accusations and comparisons,” said the leader of the public association “Force of Farmers” Alexandru Slusari.
The protest started one hour ahead of the Cabinet meeting. While the farmers were expressing their dissatisfaction, the Cabinet approved the draft decision on the provision of assistance to farmers affected by the consequences of the crises of 2022 and the regulations for distributing the diesel fuel provided by Romania to farmers affected by the drought of 2022.
