Farmers may take their tractors to Chisinau if ignored by authorities
After today’s protests agricultural producers declared that they will analyze the situation and if central authorities do not react to their demands, they might organize larger scale actions and take their agricultural machinery to the capital. The statement was made by the National Agricultural and Food Industry Employer’ Confederation Alexandru Slusari, for Info-Prim Neo.
Alexandru Slusari communicated today that farmers protested with about 2,000 units of agricultural machinery. The meetings went through without serious incidents, but none of the central authorities came to discuss with the protesters. “No one from the top tier came, and we have nothing to discuss with local authorities. We are currently analyzing the situation, drawing the bottom line, and if we are ignored, we will organize greater protests in autumn”, promised the president of the Federation.
Farmers went out to protests on the national highway, chanted slogans and held up boards, in order to attract the attention of authorities and population. They displayed slogans like “Down with the reckless fiscal policy”, “We want development, not just taxation”, “The drought affects us, but taxes bankrupt us”. Agricultural producers from throughout the country participated in the protest expressing their dissatisfaction with the budgetary-fiscal policy for 2013, which was adopted by the Parliament.
